tellatribe — Creator Campaigns: strategy and PRD
v0.1 · October 14, 2026 · extends PRD.md (the two-tier affiliate platform, live) with brand briefs, creator applications, deliverables, verification and campaign payments.
Status, October 19, 2026 — Part B is built and live. Phases 1–5 of B.15 shipped together on
0017_campaigns/0018_funding_endpoint/0019_campaigns_vocabulary, against the build contract inbuild-plan/04-creator-campaigns.md; decisions 67–106 record what was settled in the build. Deviations from the text below, all logged: creator metrics come through the connected network's aggregator analytics with manual entry as an unverified fallback rather than first-party OAuth apps (decision 70; the app-review path stays in Phase 6); gift value lives on the deal, not as a ledger kind (67); the platform fee is charged to the brand balance at release (71); escrow is held for the flat fee only, released beside each bounty (76, 78); eligibility is evaluated in the app so an ineligible brief shows dimmed with its one reason (74). Brand funding is Stripe Checkout on the payout account, card or ACH, minimum $100, fees paid by the brand (73). Phase 6 (Meta Creator Marketplace / TTCM partner access, paid amplification, external discovery, storefronts) remains later.
Part A — Strategy
A.1 What we are adding, in one paragraph
Today tellatribe pays people a commission for posting ready-made content with their link. Creator Campaigns adds the other half of the creator economy: a brand publishes a brief (what it wants, from whom, by when, for how much), creators apply, the brand accepts, the creator delivers, the platform verifies the post went live, and the ledger pays — flat fee, commission, or both — through the payout rails that already exist. The same person can be an affiliate on Monday and a hired creator on Tuesday, in the same app, with one balance and one 1099.
A.2 What is out there (the short version)
The field splits into four shapes. Detail and sources are in Appendix 1.
| Shape | Examples | What they do well | Where they stop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enterprise influencer SaaS | CreatorIQ ( |
Discovery over 20–350M profiles, audience/fraud scoring, briefs, approvals, usage rights, paid amplification, global payments | Priced for $100k+ budgets, annual lock-in, "glitchy", slow support; built for one brand's team, not a portfolio owner |
| Impact.com (the reference you gave) | Creator module inside Partnership Cloud: 80–90k opt-in creators, campaign builder with eligibility filters, bids/negotiation, drafts, gifting, tracking, wallet payouts | The most complete brief → task → payment state machine on the market (we mirror its vocabulary below) | $500–$2,500/mo + 2.5% of sales + overages; payment is a manual "Pay Creator" click; no fake-follower score; gifting needs a CSM; Trustpilot 1.2/5 on frozen balances and late pay |
| Platform-native marketplaces | TikTok One, Instagram Creator Marketplace, YouTube Open Call, Shopify Collabs, Amazon Creator Connections | Free, first-party audience data, escrow (TikTok One Pay), one-click ad whitelisting | Single platform each, opaque eligibility, no multi-brand wall, payments mostly off-platform, creator signups paused (Shopify) |
| Affiliate networks / SaaS | Awin, Partnerize, Rakuten, Refersion, PartnerStack, Tapfiliate, Rewardful, FirstPromoter | Commission tracking, some hold funds and pay partners | None of them has a native brief / application / deliverable / usage-rights workflow; influencer work is routed to a partner platform |
Two newer shapes matter for us: Modash (self-serve, $199–599/mo, transparent, "creators don't apply — brands find them") and ShopMy / LTK (creator storefronts + weekly payouts, beauty/fashion only, stacked fees).
A.3 Where the gap is — our position
Nobody serves a portfolio owner with several SMB brands who wants nano/micro creators to post ready-made content and get paid simply. Enterprise tools are 10–50× too expensive and assume a team; native marketplaces are one platform and one brand at a time; affiliate SaaS has no briefs. The win is not out-discovering CreatorIQ; it is making the creator side simple, fast and almost addictive (the wall) and the brand side one voluntary login (the brief), with the money handled end to end.
Position: "The creator wall for brands you already own."
- Supply we already have. Every brand's customers are the first creators (HealthyApp's coaches and their clients; booked's coaches). The wall turns them into affiliates; Campaigns turns the best of them into paid creators. Enterprise tools start with a cold database of 20M strangers.
- Content done for them. The brief ships with the collateral: the hook, the caption, the disclosure, the teleprompter script. Nano creators do not have a content team; this is why they stall on other platforms.
- One ledger, one payout. Flat fees and commissions land in the same ledger the affiliate side already uses — 30-day holds, clawbacks, Stripe Connect, tax forms. Hybrid deals (fee + commission) are a first-class row, not a spreadsheet.
- Honest, transparent money. Published fees, escrow the brand funds at acceptance, payout on verified delivery, instant payout option. Impact.com's one-star reviews are our product spec in reverse.
- Verification by API, not screenshot. Connected Instagram/TikTok/YouTube accounts give follower, reach and engagement at apply time and let us detect the post going live and pull its metrics at 24h/7d/30d.
What we deliberately do not build in v1: discovery across 350M public profiles (buy Modash's API later if ever), managed services, paid-media amplification, a consumer shopping app, more than two tiers.
A.4 Business model
- Internal first (our brands): no fees between us and ourselves; the value is cheaper creator acquisition and content at scale.
- Commercial shape (same as PRD.md §16): a brand workspace pays a SaaS tier ($0 for one program / $299 / $999 per month, no annual lock-in) plus a 10% brand-side campaign fee on flat-fee and gifting-value payouts (the marketplace norm is 10–20% combined). Creators pay 0% and get instant payout at 1% if they want it; standard payout is free. Commission-side economics stay as today (2.5% of commission payouts on Pro).
- Why this works: Impact.com charges 2.5% of sales plus seats; Collabstr takes 10% + 15%; Upfluence 3.5–6% on deposits. 10% brand-side with free creator payouts is competitive and simple to explain.
A.5 What you would be missing (the list you asked for)
Things the research says a credible campaign platform needs that are not obvious from the brief → apply → pay sketch:
- Connected-account identity. Creators must OAuth Instagram (Business/Creator), TikTok (Login Kit) and YouTube so follower counts, engagement and audience demographics are first-party and refreshable. Meta has required consented data since 2022; screenshots are trivially faked.
- Audience-quality score. Fake followers are 56% of reported fraud. We need a simple score from the consented data (growth spikes, follower geography vs claimed, engagement vs reach, comment authenticity) and tier definitions written into the schema (nano/micro/mid/macro).
- Escrow and dispute flow. Brand funds the deal at acceptance; money sits in a platform balance; release on verified delivery; a dispute state with a human decision and a documented policy. This is the single biggest driver of trust reviews.
- Contracts and SOWs. Every accepted deal needs a generated Statement of Work (deliverables, dates, rights, exclusivity, payment terms, disclosure duty, morality/termination) accepted in-app, versioned like our program terms.
- Usage rights and whitelisting with expiry. Organic repost rights vs paid rights are different products; Meta partnership-ads permissions and TikTok Spark codes (7/30/60/365-day) must be stored with their expiry so we can remind and revoke.
- Exclusivity conflict detection. A creator with a live exclusivity window for a competing category must not be able to accept a conflicting brief.
- Content approval and revision rounds. Draft → brand review (1–2 included rounds) → approved → post window. Impact.com's task state machine is the right vocabulary.
- Posting verification by API. After the post window opens, poll the creator's connected media for a matching post, confirm the paid-partnership label / branded-content toggle, then capture metrics at 24h, 72h, 7d, 30d. Stories must be captured inside 24h.
- Disclosure enforcement. FTC Endorsement Guides (2023) and the Fake Reviews Rule (Oct 2024): briefs may not require positive sentiment; every deliverable carries a disclosure acknowledgement; UK ASA needs "#ad" up front; EU DSA requires the platform toggle. Our existing disclosure blocks extend to scripts and captions in briefs.
- Brand safety screen. Before acceptance: a recent-content scan for brand-unsafe keywords/categories the brand configures (Impact.com's Content Check is still beta — a simple version is a differentiator).
- Rate guidance. A built-in "what this usually costs" line per tier and platform (nano/micro $50–$300 per post on Collabstr's 2025 data; impact.com's rate cards run far higher) so SMB brands don't under- or over-offer, and so counter-offers converge.
- Hybrid deal math in the ledger. Flat fee (bounty), performance commission and gifting value as distinct ledger kinds with their own holds; one statement; 1099 totals that include fees and commissions. Thresholds: $600 for 2025 payments, $2,000 for 2026 (OBBBA).
- Global payees. W-8BEN / W-8BEN-E collection, multi-currency payouts, no withholding on services performed abroad — Stripe Connect Express handles most of it; keep the forms on file.
- Gifting / product seeding. Pick-a-product from a Shopify catalog or a fixed SKU list, shipping address capture, gift value recorded as a non-cash deliverable (taxable above thresholds).
- Messaging. A per-deal thread (brand ↔ creator) with the brief, drafts and decisions attached; without it, negotiation leaks to email and we lose the record.
- Two-sided reputation. On-time delivery rate and post performance for creators; payment speed and approval turnaround for brands. Shown, not hidden.
- Application triage. Briefs attract many applicants; an eligibility pre-filter plus a ranked shortlist (fit score from tier, category, engagement, past performance on our wall) is what makes a one-login-a-week brand possible.
- Platform API access is gated. Meta's Creator Marketplace API (Oct 2025) and TikTok's TTCM API are partner-approved; plan on connect-your-account data from day one and apply for marketplace access in parallel.
- Attribution beyond the link. Promo codes per creator-deliverable, short view-through windows (1–7 days), and a per-campaign "incrementality note" — do not promise lift measurement for organic posts.
- Terms of service for a marketplace. Who is the payer (us vs the brand), what we are not (an employer, an agent), dispute policy, content licensing defaults, 18+ only, prohibited categories (we already exclude pharma/telehealth-adjacent claims under Meta rules).
Part B — Product Requirements
B.1 What this is
A campaign layer on tellatribe. A campaign is a brand's brief: eligibility, deliverables, compensation, rights, dates. Creators discover campaigns on the Wall as Open call tiles, apply in one sheet, and run accepted deals from Studio. Brands create campaigns in the admin, review applicants, approve drafts, and release payment. The ledger records fees, commissions and gift values; payouts and tax use the existing Stripe Connect rails.
Guiding rule (unchanged from PRD.md): simple to administer, a lot of power for the creator. A brief should take a brand ten minutes; applying should take a creator thirty seconds.
B.2 Research findings that shaped the design
- The task state machine is a solved problem — impact.com's campaign → application → SOW → task (Not started / Awaiting review / Approved draft / Rejected draft / Pending deliverable / Completed) is what every platform converges on; we adopt it and add escrow states.
- Consented first-party data is mandatory; scraped profiles are both against Meta policy and worse data. Demographics need Advanced Access (app review); plan for a minimum product that works on
follower_count, media and engagement, and adds demographics when approved. - Hybrid pay is the modal deal (base + performance). Pure CPA is "very low brand risk / high creator risk" and creators resist it; pure flat fee removes the incentive. The ledger must carry both on one deal.
- Trust failures are about money timing. Frozen balances, manual pay clicks, 30-day waits and unappealable fraud flags are the complaints on every incumbent. Design: funds locked at acceptance, released automatically on verification, visible timeline, appeal path.
- Disclosure liability reaches the platform. The 2023 Guides name intermediaries; the Fake Reviews Rule carries civil penalties per violation. Enforce disclosure in the product, never only in the brief text.
- 1099 thresholds moved. $2,000 for payments made in 2026; backup withholding threshold likewise. Our tax reporting must sum commissions, fees and gift value per payee.
- Usage rights are a separate product with an expiry, worth 25–100% over base; store them structured so they can be sold, reminded and revoked.
- Payout rails are a commodity; Stripe Connect (already live) covers Express onboarding, KYC, W-9/W-8, multi-currency and instant payouts at 1%. No new vendor needed for v1.
B.3 Users
- Creator — any affiliate on the wall. Two populations again: customers/coaches with 500–5,000 followers who have never been paid for a post, and working creators who compare us with TikTok One and ShopMy. Both must see a brief, know in ten seconds if they qualify and what it pays, and apply without writing an essay.
- Brand owner / marketer — one person per brand (us, for now). Wants to post a brief, get a shortlist, approve content, and have the money happen.
- Admin (workspace) — the same queue as today, plus campaign exceptions: disputes, failed verifications, flagged applicants, unfunded campaigns.
B.4 Scope
In scope for v1
- Brands create campaigns (brief) with eligibility, deliverables, compensation (flat / commission / hybrid / gifting), rights, dates, budget and hire count.
- Creators connect Instagram, TikTok and YouTube; profile shows tier, followers, engagement, categories; audience-quality score v1.
- Open-call campaigns on the Wall; invite-only campaigns to named creators; application with a short pitch and (if allowed) a bid.
- Shortlist and accept/decline with reasons; counter-offer on rate and deliverables (one round each way).
- Auto-generated SOW accepted in-app; funding of the flat-fee portion at acceptance (escrow in the ledger).
- Deliverable tasks with draft upload, brand review (approve / request changes, two rounds), post window, API posting verification, metrics capture.
- Disclosure acknowledgement per deliverable; paid-partnership label check where the API exposes it.
- Payment release on verification (or brand approval where verification is unavailable), through the existing ledger (new kinds:
bounty,gift_value) and payout run. - Dispute state with admin decision; appeal path for creators.
- Reputation basics (on-time delivery, completion count) on both sides.
- Rate guidance line in the brief builder.
- Reports: campaign cost, deliverables, reach/engagement, attributed sales, cost per engagement / per sale.
Out of scope for v1 (named so they don't creep in)
- Discovery of creators not on the wall (no 350M-profile search).
- Paid-media amplification (partnership ads / Spark Ads purchase) — we store the permission codes only.
- Managed service, agency multi-client views.
- Consumer shopping app / creator storefronts.
- Video review tooling beyond upload + comments.
- Automated incrementality / geo-lift.
- Non-USD escrow (payouts may be multi-currency via Stripe; brand funding is USD).
B.5 Core model
Campaign (per brand/product; workspace-scoped like everything else)
title, description, cover, goal(awareness / content / sales),status(draft · open · closed · archived),visibility(open_call · invite_only),budget_cents(planning, not a cap),hire_target,apply_until,community_manager.- Eligibility: platforms[], min followers (per platform), min engagement %, categories[], countries[], languages[], min audience-quality score, "must already be enrolled in product X", "must have ≥N prior completed deals / ≥N prior sales on the wall".
- Compensation:
flat_fee_cents(set rate, orbids_allowedwith a cap),commission(link to a program's plan levels — creators are enrolled automatically on acceptance),gifting(SKU list or catalog pick, max value),bonus(threshold → amount, e.g. 10k views → $50). - Rights:
usage_rights(none / organic_repost / paid_ads),usage_months,exclusivity(categories, days),whitelisting_required(Meta partnership permission / TikTok Spark code with days). - Deliverables (1–n tasks): platform, format (feed / reel / story / short / video / live / newsletter / podcast / custom),
count,draft_required,draft_due,post_window_start/end,metrics_due(default +30 d), content guidelines, required hashtags/handles, collateral attached from the vault (caption, script, images) — the creator's starting point, editable per decision 6. - Disclosure block required (as with collateral);
sentiment_required = falseis enforced (cannot be set).
Application — campaign_id, affiliate_id, pitch (≤300 chars), bid_cents (if allowed), proposed_tasks (if creator-defined), snapshot (followers/engagement/score at apply time), status (applied · shortlisted · countered · accepted · declined · withdrawn), decline_reason.
Deal (created on acceptance) — the SOW: frozen copy of compensation, rights, deliverables, dates; sow_version, accepted_at by both sides; escrow_cents funded; status (funded · in_progress · delivered · verified · paid · disputed · cancelled).
Deliverable task — per deal per deliverable: status (not_started · draft_submitted · changes_requested · draft_approved · awaiting_post · posted_unverified · verified · failed_verification · completed); draft_assets[], review_rounds, post_url, post_platform_id, metrics at 24h/72h/7d/30d, disclosure_ack_at, label_verified.
Connected account — affiliate_id, platform, platform_user_id, handle, tokens (encrypted), followers, engagement_30d, avg_reach, audience_demo (when permitted), quality_score, refreshed_at.
Ledger additions — commission kind gains bounty (flat fee, born approved on verification; hold 0–7 d configurable) and gift_value (non-cash, reported, never paid); escrow rows on the brand's balance (funded → released / refunded). Clawback rules: a verified post that is deleted inside the usage/retention window reverses the bounty (flagged, admin decides).
B.6 Creator side (portal)
- Wall: a new row "Open calls" above the brand rows when any campaign the creator is eligible for is open; each tile says pays ("$150 + 25%") and asks ("1 Reel · by Nov 2"). Ineligible campaigns appear dimmed with the one reason ("needs 1,000 followers on Instagram") — honest, not hidden. Tile → Campaign sheet: brief, deliverables, rights in plain words, rate guidance ("creators your size usually get $75–$200 for this"), and a single Apply button.
- Apply sheet: connected accounts shown (connect if missing — OAuth, 20 seconds), one pitch field (optional), bid field if allowed, disclosure and rights acknowledgement, Apply. Confirmation: "You'll hear back by {date}."
- Studio → Deals: accepted deals as cards with the next action ("Upload draft", "Post by Thursday", "We're checking the post", "Paid Nov 1"). Draft upload (file or link), change requests shown inline, the collateral and the teleprompter one tap away (the script in the brief is a prompter script).
- Post it: Copy & post, Post-for-me (connected network), or Record it — identical to today; the deliverable's post window is enforced in the composer (cannot schedule outside it).
- Earnings: bounty rows beside commission rows ("Reel for HealthyApp · $150 · verified Oct 20 · pays Nov 1"); gift value shown as "gift · $89 · not cash".
- Reputation: a quiet line on the profile — "4 deals · 100% on time".
B.7 Brand side (admin)
- Campaigns list (status, applicants, hired, delivered, spend / budget).
- New campaign — a ten-minute form in the order a brand thinks: who (eligibility, with a live count of eligible creators on the wall), what (deliverables + attached collateral), how much (compensation with the rate-guidance line), rights, dates, budget, publish or save. Preview as a creator.
- Applicants — ranked shortlist (fit score + snapshot metrics + reputation + audience-quality), accept / decline (reason required, creator sees it) / counter. Bulk accept.
- Funding — on accept, the flat-fee escrow for that deal is drawn from the brand's balance; if short, the deal waits in
unfundedand the Queue says so. - Deliverables — drafts to review in a queue with approve / request changes; posted items with verification status and live metrics; "release payment" only where verification is impossible (podcast, offline) — otherwise automatic.
- Reports — per campaign: cost, CPE, CPV, attributed sales (through the existing attribution), creator leaderboard; export.
- Queue gains: disputes, failed verifications, unfunded deals, applicants flagged by the quality score.
B.8 Eligibility, tiers and quality score
- Tiers fixed in config: nano < 10k · micro 10k–50k · mid 50k–500k · macro 500k–1M · mega 1M+ (per platform).
- Quality score v1 (0–100) from consented data: follower-growth anomaly, engagement vs follower tier benchmark, reach/followers ratio, comment authenticity proxy (comments/likes), audience-country mismatch vs claimed country (when demographics available). Shown to brands as a word (Good / Check / Weak) with the reasons; never a black box. Below the campaign's minimum → application blocked with the reason.
- Refresh nightly for creators with live applications or deals, weekly otherwise; respect each API's rate limits (IG BUC, TikTok 600/min, YouTube 10k units/day).
B.9 Verification
- Post window opens → poll the creator's connected media every 15 min for the first 48 h, then hourly to window end. Match by
post_urlthe creator supplies and by content fingerprint (hashtags/handles required by the brief, collab tag). Confirm the platform label where exposed (Instagram paid-partnership via API; TikTok branded-content toggle visible via the commercial content library; YouTube paid-promotion flag). - Metrics at 24h / 72h / 7d / 30d; Stories captured before expiry.
- Not verifiable (podcast, offline, newsletter): creator submits proof; brand approves; admin can spot-check.
- Verified → task completed → bounty row born
approved→ paid in the next run (or instant payout at the creator's option).
B.10 Rights and compliance
- SOW generated from the deal (template per workspace, versioned like program terms); both sides accept in-app; stored immutable.
- Disclosure: every deliverable's caption/script starts from the disclosure block; the composer's warn-once rule from decision 6 applies; on verification we check for the required disclosure text/label and mark
label_verified. Missing label → taskfailed_verificationwith a fix-it step, not an automatic penalty. - Usage rights stored with start trigger (post live / assets delivered), months, channels; reminder 14 days before expiry; brand content library shows rights state.
- Whitelisting: store Meta partnership-ads permission grant and TikTok Spark code + expiry; never purchase media in v1.
- Exclusivity: conflicting-category check at apply time; the creator sees "you have an exclusivity with X until {date}".
- FTC Fake Reviews Rule: briefs cannot require sentiment; no paid reviews on review sites; AI-generated testimonials prohibited in the SOW.
- UK/EU: "#ad" up front in caption templates when the creator's country is UK; DSA toggle reminder for EU.
- 18+ only; prohibited categories list per workspace.
B.11 Payments and tax
- Brand funds a workspace balance (card / ACH via Stripe); escrow for each deal's flat fee is reserved at acceptance; gifting value is recorded, not escrowed.
- Release on
verified(automatic) or brand approval (unverifiable formats) → ledgerbountyrowapproved→ next payout run; instant payout option (1%, creator pays). - Dispute: either side opens within 7 days of delivery; funds held; admin decides; outcome logged; creator appeal once.
- Tax: Stripe Connect collects W-9/W-8; 1099-NEC totals = commissions + bounties + gift value; threshold $2,000 for 2026 payments.
- Fees: 10% brand-side on bounties and gift value; 0% creator-side; commissions as today.
B.12 Fraud and trust
- Application snapshot frozen (prevents "borrowing" followers after apply).
- Quality score below minimum → blocked; sudden follower spikes →
checkflag in the Queue. - Duplicate connected accounts across affiliates → flag.
- Post deleted inside the retention window → bounty flagged for reversal.
- Brand-side: unfunded campaigns cannot accept; late approvals (>5 business days) count against brand reputation and auto-approve drafts after 10 if the brand opted in.
B.13 Metrics
Creator: time from open call to application, application → acceptance rate, on-time delivery rate, verified rate, time to pay. Brand: eligible-creator count per brief, applicants per brief, cost per deliverable, CPE/CPV, attributed sales, dispute rate. Platform: take-rate revenue, escrow balance, 1099 payees.
B.14 Technical architecture (delta)
- Tables:
campaigns,campaign_eligibility,campaign_deliverables,applications,deals,deal_tasks,task_assets,task_metrics,connected_accounts,quality_scores,escrow_entries,disputes,sow_versions,rights_grants. All withworkspace_idcomposite FKs and RLS as today. - Ledger:
commission.kind+=bounty,gift_value; escrow as workspace-balance ledger entries. - OAuth connectors: Instagram API with Instagram Login, TikTok Login Kit + Display API, YouTube Data + Analytics (channel-owner scope). Token vault encrypted; refresh jobs on the existing cron pattern; app review tracked in BUILD-PLAN.
- Verification worker: cron every 15 min scanning tasks in
awaiting_post/posted_unverified. - Media: drafts stored in the existing
collateralbucket under/{ws}/deals/{deal}/{task}/. - Portal: Wall row + two sheets + Studio "Deals"; Admin: Campaigns section (five screens).
B.15 Phases
- Foundations (2 weeks) — connected accounts (IG/TikTok/YouTube), tiers, quality score v1, creator profile.
- Briefs and applications (2 weeks) — campaign builder, Open-call tiles, apply sheet, shortlist, accept/decline/counter, SOW, escrow.
- Deliverables and verification (2 weeks) — tasks, drafts, review rounds, composer window enforcement, verification worker, metrics capture.
- Money and trust (1 week) — bounty/gift ledger kinds, release, disputes, instant payout, 1099 totals, reputation.
- Reports and polish (1 week) — campaign reports, Queue items, rate guidance, exclusivity checks.
- Later — Meta Creator Marketplace / TTCM partner access, paid amplification, external discovery, storefronts.
B.16 Decisions (Jonathan, October 14, 2026)
- Open calls are visible to every affiliate on the wall who meets the brief's eligibility; applying enrolls them in the product's program automatically.
- The 10% brand-side fee applies to flat fees only. Gifting is free to run.
- tellatribe is the payer of record. Brands fund a workspace balance; we pay creators through Stripe Connect and issue one 1099 per creator covering commissions, fees and gift value.
- Instant payout is creator-paid (1%); the standard monthly run stays free.
- Drafts auto-approve after 10 business days of brand silence, on by default; the SOW says so and a brand can turn it off per campaign.
- No platform follower floor; each brief sets its own minimum. Quality is the audience-quality score's job.

A1.6 2025–26 upstarts (what the money is funding)
| Platform | Model | Take / price | Why it matters to us |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agentio ($56M raised; $340M valuation Nov 2025) | Programmatic creator ads: AI prices YouTube/Meta placements by median views; creators accept/decline, no pitching | 20% of media spend; no SaaS fee | Validates "no negotiation, instant deals"; mid/large channels only — not our nano/micro supply |
| Levanta ($22M Series B Aug 2026) | Amazon-first creator affiliate network, product-level commissions, seeding, card-linked offers | $750/mo + 3.5% of sales | Shows brands pay SaaS + % for infrastructure; reviews call it overpriced/opaque — our fee transparency is a wedge |
| Kale (Forerunner, Inc. 5000) | Turns actual customers into paid posters via in-app "challenges"; cash/perk rewards | Quote | Closest to our thesis (customers → creators); weakness is modest, contingent rewards — our ledger pays real commission + bounty |
| Stack Influence | Managed nano/micro gifting at scale, guaranteed post, usage rights included | ~$30–39 per post + product | Proves the "done-for-you brief + gifting" unit economics; quality complaints show why verification and quality scores matter |
| #paid | Managed marketplace with standardized content + usage-rights pricing; creators pitch | From ~$449; enterprise custom | Standardized rights pricing is worth copying in our rate-guidance line |
| SARAL | Bootstrapped outbound CRM for lean DTC teams; "not a marketplace" | $12–25k/yr, cancel anytime | Transparent pricing is the SMB norm now |
| Superfiliate | Shopify affiliate/ambassador with cobranded landing pages, Partnership Ad buying | ~$299–999/mo, 3-mo min | Cobranded creator landing pages are a cheap later feature for us |
| Club (ex-Brandbassador) | Gamified "missions" in a white-label ambassador app | ~$2–3k/mo annual | Mission templates ≈ our collateral tiles; the gamification is the "loop" we already describe |
| Social Snowball (Dotdigital) | Auto-enrol customers as affiliates; Safelinks single-use codes | ~$899/mo | Single-use codes per click is a sensible anti-leak feature for Phase 5 |
Takeaway: the funded companies are either (a) programmatic media for big channels or (b) customers-as-creators for DTC. We sit in (b) with two things none of them have — a multi-brand wall and a built-in teleprompter — and one thing most of them lack: published, simple fees with the creator paying nothing.
